Accounts receivable recovery that turns aging claims back into cash

We work your accounts receivable (A/R) oldest and largest first, follow up with every payer by phone and portal, and close each balance as paid, appealed or properly adjusted.

Aging A/R is rarely one big problem. It is hundreds of small ones: a claim that was never acknowledged, a request for records nobody answered, a secondary claim that was never sent. Each one needs someone to call, check and act before the payer’s deadline passes.

That is the work Medwiser’s A/R team does every day. We document every contact on the account, so your staff can see exactly where each balance stands.

Where revenue leaks

The problems we fix

  • Claims nobody followed up on

Claims that were never acknowledged, or were pended for information, can sit unpaid for months. We check status on every open claim and act before filing limits pass.

    • CARCCO-29The time limit for filing has expired
  • Coordination of benefits holds

When a payer thinks another plan is primary, payment stops. We confirm coverage order with the patient's plans and rebill the right payer.

    • CARCCO-22Care may be covered by another payer
  • Balances that should have been written off or refunded

Old credits and uncollectible small balances distort your A/R. We close them out correctly, with notes your auditors can follow.

How it works

Getting started with a/r recovery

  1. Week 1

    Aging review

We pull your A/R aging and recent remits under a signed BAA and estimate what is recoverable by payer.

  2. Week 2

    Prioritize

Accounts are ranked by age, balance and filing deadline, so the claims closest to timely filing limits are worked first.

  3. Weeks 3 to 12

    Work the backlog

Our team follows up, corrects, appeals and closes accounts, logging every payer contact.

  4. Every week

    Report

You see dollars recovered, accounts closed and the remaining balance by payer and age.

FAQ

A/R Recovery: common questions

Can you work only our old A/R and leave current billing with our team?

Yes. Many practices hand us a backlog project first, usually claims over 90 days, while their own team keeps current billing.

How far back can you recover?

It depends on each payer's timely filing and appeal limits. Medicare allows 12 months from the date of service for initial claims; commercial limits are often shorter. We check every account against its payer's limit before working it.

How is A/R recovery priced?

Usually as a percentage of what we actually recover, so you pay nothing on balances that stay uncollectible. We confirm the rate after reviewing your aging report.

Will you contact our patients about balances?

Only if you ask us to. Patient follow-up is optional and handled in your practice's name with your approved scripts.
